    Hi Detlev,
Thanks so much for providing such a useful information in step-by-step format.

  3. Arlene says:

    Hi Detlev,

Thanks for the article! I had purchased Niche Inspector but forgot I had it. I plan to use a couple of the resources you mentioned to enhance my marketing. Have you an opinion on article marketing? How effective is it?

  4. Dave Thomas says:

    Hi Detlev,

Great advice especially for someone just getting started I know as I followed a very simular system after spending all my spare cash chasing the next great money-making products which did not work as I had not taken the time to learn the basics of internet marketing. So the only thing I would add is LEARN THE BASICS then as you stated TAKE ACTION

    Keep up the good work

    Dave

  5. Hi Detlev – I just wish that Your post here had been available when I first got started, awesome content Sir, very educational, many thanks.

    Very useful article.

  7. Deborah says:

Hi , great article ! I have done all of the above and have come to the conclusion that I have to have my own domain name to make any money. So far I have not come across any link cloakers that really work. I have used tiny url , and other free cloakers , but they still show my affiliate link in the browser. I have had many hits as I have many articles circulating. I want to know how I would know if someone did actually take credit for a sale that I made ? What are the signs ?

  8. Detlev says:

    Hi Deborah,

If you’re afraid of commission theft then I suppose the niche you’re targeting is Internet marketing. Because users within this niche usually know how to replace your affiliate ID with their own. You can’t do anything against it. If people want to steal your commissions, it doesn’t matter what link cloaker you are using. They’ll find a way to do this – even if it’s by searching the Clickbank marketplace for the product name.

Personally, I am using Gotrythis as well as ViralUrl and they both work fine for me and do not display the target URL/affiliate link. But as I said, if you want to get around this whole issue, I guess you would do better by going into the non money making niches – people are generally much less aware of this commission theft option…!

    Detlev

P.S.: Thanks to Gap Marketing & Timothy, too – your feedback is really appreciated! I’m quite disappointed about the low response in general, though.

It seems that people on my list don’t value my time if they’re not at least leaving a short comment here. I really have to ask myself if I should still be writing my own articles for this blog. If the feedback doesn’t go up then I will simply stop writing educational posts like this…

  9. Detlev says:

    Hi Arlene,

    Thanks for your feedback

Success with article marketing is highly dependent on your keyword research. If you publish articles for keywords which don’t have a lot of competitors online, then it can be very effective in getting targeted visitors.

If instead you just publish articles which are are about the main keywords then the total number of visitors you can get from the article directories themselves will be much lower. With regards to SEO, it is one of the best ways to get incoming links using targeted keywords as the link text in your resource box. It’s still one of my favorite ways of getting inbound links.

    All the best,

    Detlev

  10. Detlev says:

@Ayo, Madhu – Thanks for your feedback, too :).

@Dave – That’s absolutely right; learning the basics is one of the first steps a person interested in Internet marketing must take or it won’t work.

Too many people want to dive in without knowing how to create an affiliate link or how to sell online. Then they are wondering why this Internet marketing “stuff” doesn’t work for them. That’s why I had created my Revenue Blueprint – to give newbies the basics for an online business. And then taking action become much easier…

This is what I like in an article, meaty content and specific things one can do to make money. Most bloggers just rant about philosophical stuff and how you can make money by imagining.

    Good stuff Detlev.

  12. Detlev says:

    Hi Colin,

Thanks for your feedback – I’m glad you like my content

    Detlev

  13. Colin Noden says:

    Hi Detlev,
I guess I’m one of those guilty of not giving you feedback. I’ve enjoyed your posts. I like the ones where you share things you have learned in your own journey. This frames the problem and puts a human element into it. Then when I get hit with the same problem I seem to remember your advice better.

    Keep chugging!
    Colin

    NICHE INSPECTOR by MYLEENA PHAN
    ——————————-

After purchasing Niche Inspector for $127 on 06 November 2008 with PayPal, I have still not heard from Myleena Phan about the non-delivery of the Niche Inspector software. In desperation, I wrote to PayDotCom on 19 Nov. This was their reply:

    “Hello.

I’m sorry, but this person has been suspended from PDC for failing to pay thousands of dollars in commissions among other things.

She cannot be reinstated unless she takes care of all outstanding debts (including yours) and she has also not responded back to my efforts to contact her.

    Take Care,

    Steve

    PayDotCom”

So, it seems that the seemingly friendly Myleena Phan has disappeared with my $127 and a lot of other people’s money!

    ———————————

    To all Niche Inspector users,

PLEASE, if there’s any kind soul out there who has the software, I’d be grateful if you’d send it to me at mailbox(at)AbacusData.com, or tell me the Niche Inspector download link (even if you zip your own installation file, put it on your web space, and tell me the URL). THANK YOU! At least then I shan’t have lost my money for nothing.

I am looking for such a tool to complement a product I am developing at http://www.NicheSiteCreator.net. My product creates the actual web pages, but it needs a suitable niche-oriented keyword list to feed into it, in order to do so.
