How To Get Your Book Published Without Getting a Migraine

You've written a book, you've poured your heart, soul, and countless hours into it. You have dreams of gracing the New York Times best-seller list and book signings at Barnes & Noble. What comes next?

Years ago, your only choice was to send your manuscript off to a traditional publisher and hope that they saw the potential in your work amidst the hundreds of other submissions, and 99% of them were rejected! What a headache!

Thankfully, times have changed. Now, exclusively at ThePublishingHub, you get to pick your publisher! That's right, you choose the publisher that you feel will best serve you! And if the specific publisher for your book isn't already in the network, it soon will be because new publishers are being added constantly.

What is the first step in producing a book?

The ins and outs of production can be intimidating, but if you know what to expect, the process will be much smoother. The first step in production is getting the text of your book into a format that can be edited. Trained editors can edit, revise, and tweak your text once it's out of you. The costs for each of these services should be plainly outlined to you before the process begins.

After you review the changes and edits to your manuscript, including a grammar proof, your book will then go into layout and cover design. When all of these steps have been completed, your manuscript should be sent to you for a final review. Once you sign off on a final review, your text is ready to go to press.

What should I expect in the publishing process?

Once your book has gone through the full production process, your book is submitted to one of the publishers within ThePublishingHub network of publishers. When accepted, the specs of your book (i.e. page count, dimensions, quantity, binding, embossing, etc.) are submitted to professional book printers that bid on your book printing, which gives you the lowest possible price on your book.

You can then expect to review and sign a publisher's contract. One important thing to keep in mind is that you to retain the rights to your book, which gives you a lot more flexibility. Once the contract is signed, your book goes to print. This process usually only takes 5-7 weeks, depending on the complexity of the design and layout of your particular book.

Now that my book is published, what about marketing?

As with any book, it is the author who is primarily responsible for the book's success. And, no, you don't need a marketing degree! You need a plan that works with you, your vision, your platform, and your budget. ThePublishingHub works with a select group of marketing experts and you have access to these specialists who can help you. From social networking to logo creation and from website building to direct mail, you are able to choose exactly what works best for you.

    That's it?

Not very complicated, is it? And really, it shouldn't be. Remember, start by getting the text out of you. Find a way to do it as quickly as you can. Things will fall into place for you as you take steps toward completing your book.

And now that you know how to get your book published without getting a migraine, I challenge you to make this commitment to yourself: I will have my book in hand within the next 6 months.

    Now, let's get it done!
