The Kel Tec firearm is one of the lightest pistols on the market making it much easier for concealed carry, and law enforcement communities. Due to the polymer design of the Kel Tec pistol, is not only ultra light, but strong. With the ability to take high pressure ammunition the Keltec pistol is making waves in the concealed carry community.
Size is one of the largest factors when people are choosing their firearm. Featuring the compact design of Keltec guns, they are sure to leave room for everyday items, not making the use pick and choose what is important to bring with them. With my Sig produced concealed carry jacket, I found myself forgetting I had my Kel Tec P11 on me half the time, something that never happened with my compact 1911.
But the question that I’m sure everybody wants to know is how reliable is the Keltec P11. After shooting over one hundred rounds of various ammunitions, I had nothing but praise for the Kel Tec Arms guns. With the ability for some models to take high capacity Glock magazines, just sealed the deal for a number of my associates.
With a nominal fee of around three hundred dollars for a high end Keltec pistol, I would consider these firearms cheap as they are reliable, considering that most “cheap guns, are built to match.” I was impressed with the performance of the Keltec pistols I shot, in fact I went so far as to invest in a Kel Tec P2000, after my positive experiences with my other Keltec pistol.
The final reason for choosing a Keltec firearm is the simple design. The less moving parts in a firearm lessen chances of jams and misfires. The only potential problem is the fact most Keltec pistols don’t like aluminum cased ammunition, particularly Blazer brand. Due to the harder primers, this ammunition has a tendency to jam and not fire on the first strike, but with a number of other brands I never experienced that problem.
In conclusion I would have to say I am very impressed with the performance and accuracy of what may be the lightest pistol in the world. Since Kel Tec Arms has only been producing handguns since 1995, I must admit they have made a great name for themselves, and their popularity is growing. Inspiring Keltec to go beyond pistols and develop a number of rifles and carbines to be released in the near future.
The Kel Tec SU 16 in particular is a survival rifle that is taking the varmint community by storm. When varmint hunting had been dominated by AR-15 rifles, the SU16 takes the same magazines, and provides it for a fraction of the cost. The Keltec SU 16 also stays true to the Keltec design with the light weigh, and folding stock. Making Kel Tec one of the top ten firearms manufactures in the USA, for good reason. In the next years to come Kel Tec has hinted at the release of a Bullpup rifle, which stays true to the Keltec template.
